Tiger King: But Make It Fashion

Unless you’ve been living under a social media rock during this quarantine (which is probably honestly not a bad idea ;)), I’m sure you’ve seen references to the newest “documentary” to hit Netflix—Tiger King. From memes to conspiracy theories to just how people really feel about Carol, everyone seems to have a little bit to say. And while I’m not going to say that I agree with the show, it has given me some fashion inspiration lately. Big cats have such unique looks, and it’s been fun for me to rock little bits of animal print in my wardrobe.
Leopard, cheetah, tiger, and snakeskin are the more common animal prints. I prefer cheetah—I think I could wear a head-to-toe outfit composed of only leopard print. ;) If you are looking for some ways to integrate animal print into your personal and professional wardrobe then look no further! I’ve created a crash course for you to help open your eyes to the joy of animal print!
The easiest way to introduce animal print is through an accessory. You could try a snakeskin belt like this one, some zebra print earrings, or a pair of shoes.

My leopard print booties are from Kohl’s (which also come in a tan snakeskin option). The darker brown pattern almost acts like a neutral color, so you can pair them with any colored top. Orange is one of my favorites, and it’s also reminiscent of tigers. =) These are great shoes to wear to work too, since they have a very comfortable sole.

Once you’ve graduated from accessories, you can move on to bigger items like blouses, blazers and sweaters. This cardigan is also from Kohl’s and it’s super cozy. Open front cardigans are nice to throw on to add a little pizzazz to any outfit. Similar options can be found here and here.

If you’re feeling very comfortable with animal print then you can wear it as the focal point! Dresses, pants, or even outerwear! The Old Navy Harper style pants are some of my favorites to wear to work, so when I saw they had a leopard print pair I had to pick it up! They’re from a previous season, so I’ve linked a different pair here.
After this animal print crash course I hope it’s no longer intimidating for you! It can be such a fun trend, so why not take a walk on the wild side this week?
