Good Things Come To Those Who Thrift

Hello my lovelies,
One of the things I’ve honestly missed the most during quarantine is having access to thrift stores. There is just something so thrilling about the hunt of finding that perfect addition to your wardrobe. I am so excited because TOMORROW (at least in dear old O-H) they open back up again! I’m looking forward to digging through other people’s castoffs to find treasures--it might sound weird, but I promise--it’s so much fun! I know they’re going to have a good selection too because everyone has had months to go through their houses and purge the items that aren’t needed anymore. Thrift stores aren’t just for finding new clothes; they’re also a great place to find new wall decor, kitchen gadgets, office supplies and so much more!
In honor of their re-opening, here are some of my favorite pieces I’ve thrifted in the months prior to quarantine.

This Island Company tee was brand new with the tags still attached. Retails for over $50 (an absurd amount for a cotton tee) and I paid $4. The same shirt in a different color can be purchased here.
These Gap 1969 girlfriend jeans retail for $70 and I paid $3 during a consignment store clearance sale. I call them my “Tom Sawyer” jeans--I just feel like I need to paint something when I put them on. =) They can be purchased for $34 right now at Gap.

A fun wardrobe hack? Tuck a short skater dress into a pair of wide leg pants and *ta-da* you have a brand new shirt! This shirt/dress is LC Lauren Conrad from my favorite local thrift store, Common Threads (local readers can find the store's info here). I purchased it during 50% off day, so it was only $4! The pants are the Target WhoWhatWear brand and were $1 during a Goodwill Dollar Day sale.

Yes, there is snow on the ground in this photo. =) Maybe it was taken in November, maybe it was taken last weekend. Weather in Ohio is a whole goodie bag of options. This cold shoulder dress was by a brand I’d never heard of before (Veronica M.). Thrift stores are also great for discovering new brands that might become favorites. In the future I know I’d like to purchase other similar dresses.

I’m excited to be able to wear this bright pink Banana Republic dress once the weather gets warmer. The $118 price tag was still attached to this dress and I paid a whopping $6! That’s almost 95% off! The asymmetrical hemline is a cool detail and the fact it has functioning pockets is a big crowd pleaser.
What are your favorite items to thrift?
Xoxo,
Heidi Joy
