Hello my lovelies,

One of the most classic items you can have in your closet is a t-shirt dress. From celebrities to royalty to your neighbor across the street--everyone is wearing them! With such a variety of different patterns, lengths, and fabrics available, it is easy to make this style your own.

My favorite store to buy t-shirt dresses from is Old Navy. I like that their dresses come in tall, so at 5-7 I can make sure everything is covered for church or work. It’s quite possible I could wear a different option every day of the week in the summer….

Like most of my clothes, I like to have multiple ways to style one piece. When I’m shopping for new clothing, if it can’t be worn at least three ways then I try to refrain from purchasing it. Here are my three favorite ways to style a t-shirt dress! You can find the same dress in different patterns here.

1. By itself

A no-brainer, the easiest way to style a t-shirt dress is to just leave it on it’s own. That’s the joy of a dress--your entire outfit is planned! All you have to choose is what shoes you want to wear!

2. Knot a shirt over it

This look adds a little bit of dimension to your dress. You can tie the knot at the smallest part of your waist which gives you a nice defined shape. Clear elastics help keep the knot in place, or you can even purchase a shirt like this one that is pre-knotted.

3. Layer with a jacket or cardigan

This option is generally how I wear my dresses when I know I’m either going to be outside during the evening when it’s cooler or when I’ll be inside a highly air-conditioned building. For some reason, stores are always frigid during the late spring/summer! If your jacket or cardigan is the right weight, you can also tie it around your waist until you need it, once again bringing definition to your waist and practicality to your outfit.

How do you like to style your t-shirt dresses?

Xoxo,

Heidi Joy
