Flannel on Fleek

Hello my lovelies,

The end of summer is drawing near. My school starts the first week of August! We’re already into staff orientation and meetings all day, everyday. =) This means casual outfits that can withstand the frigid air-conditioning temperatures that seem to be a necessity in this crazy heat! As I type this, it’s over 90 degrees outside!

Denim or black jeggings are a good place to start since they look nice and professional without requiring a lot of thought and effort. The dark pants create a neutral base for more colorful shirts and cardigans.

Whether it’s a cold summer night at the beach or an afternoon office meeting, a flannel shirt is a great layering piece with simple tank tops or tees. The blue plaid of this H & M shirt brings out the color of my eyes, all while keeping me warm in the classroom. You can find similar ones at Forever 21 that are good for both late summer and early fall weather. I like this blue plaid one and this orange and navy buffalo plaid shirt. Each shirt is less than $20 so you can stock up on multiple colors!

Since school hasn’t started quite yet, it’s okay to wear tanks and Keds to “class.” During the school year, I would pair this look with boots or booties, and add a more structured blouse underneath my flannel.
