Mod About You

Hello my lovelies,
It can be fun to take retro fashion patterns and styles and utilize them in a modern way. 70’s high-waisted bell bottoms, 50’s halter tops, and 60’s baby doll dresses are all back in vogue, with a 2016 twist!

This mod print swing dress is not only thrifted (100 pesos/$2), but it’s made by a Filipino designer! Supporting local clothing brands helps boost the economy (and boosts your wardrobe ; )) The pink, white and black print is reminiscent of 1960’s supermodel Twiggy’s fashion campaigns.

Swing dresses generally have very little “shape” to them, so they’re great for covering up your food baby after a big dinner. They’re also good at keeping you cool during the summer months since who has time (or the energy) for pants? Throw a swing dress on in a cute pattern and you automatically look pulled together.

If you prefer to accentuate your waist, a wide stretchy belt like this one will cinch you in at all the right places. I prefer my belts to have hook fasteners, but several stores have belts with decorative buckles if that’s more your style.

Whenever I plan an outfit based on comfort, flats are my shoe option of choice. Anyone who spends a lot of time on their feet can tell you that the closer to the ground your foot is, the more comfortable you’ll be.

I hope you all are having a great summer! It’s hard to believe that July is right around the corner. Time flies by when you’re not in school. =)
Xoxo
