Spring Break Stripes

Hello my lovelies,

This past weekend I had the opportunity to go to Pico de Loro Cove, a beach resort located on the outskirts of the Coral Triangle! It was amazing to be able to relax and enjoy the beautiful Philippine weather!

I love resort wear, and was excited to wear swimsuits, cute cover-ups and breezy dresses! I definitely people-watched, taking style tips from all the classy residents! Often looking at other people’s outfits can give you clothing ideas and help you shape your own personal style! If you are stuck at home this spring break it’s possible to keep that “tropical” feel in your outfits, even if the closest beach is a plane ride away!

Stripes are a classic look that, when worn in a bright palette, appear to mimic a sunrise/sunset. Nails that match are optional. :) This spaghetti strap Gap dress was thrifted from Goodwill for around $6/280 pesos. I purchased it in a larger size and then had it altered to fit my smaller frame. This is a good bargain life-hack, since larger sizes are often the last ones in stock and can be found for up to 70% off the original selling price in store.

Not only is this dress perfect for wearing to the beach or other warm-weather activities, it can easily be paired with a cardigan or jean jacket and instantaneously become teacher and classroom friendly! There are even pockets to hold your cell phone, keys, or lip-gloss so a bulky purse isn’t necessary.

My bright pink sandals were another grocery store find (It really is amazing what you can find if you look around). I love the happy color, and the gold grommets add some edge to an otherwise girly outfit! The only downside to a shoe like this is it’s narrow shape. If you have a wider foot I recommend buying a sandal with more coverage and support. I like to shop at Kohl’s or Walmart for cheap and trendy shoes. Since I don’t pay a lot for my summer sandals I don’t feel bad if they only last one beach/pool season! Any excuse to buy new shoes is good enough for me…..;)

Makeup is another way to pretend you’ve spent time at the beach! A swipe of bronzer on the cheekbones adds a glow, and light pink blush hints at a touch of sun. Since I already had some real color from spending hours at the beachfront, I skipped the cheek makeup. Instead I focused on my baby blues, using a silvery Bonne Bell eye shadow, thin black eye-liner and several coats of black mascara to make my eyes pop! I finished the look with a swipe of CoverGirl gloss balm in Watermelon Twist.

Try a loose and wavy hairstyle to add to the beachy vibe. Bang braids are easy to do, keep your hair out of your face and even last through an afternoon of swimming. I generally secure mine with bobby pins, but an elastic works well if you’re planning on being super active. If the only water you’ll be near is the water of your shower try this hair spray. It creates salt-water waves!

I hope you enjoy your Spring Break, whether you’re at the beach or “roughing-it” at home! It’s a great time to relax with family and celebrate our Savior and His Resurrection!

Xoxo
