Not Too Shabby....

This past fall I won a gift card to Shabby Apple, a boutique that specializes in modest clothes. After looking through all their dresses and skirts (there are so many cute options) I finally decided on their navy knee-length “Nutcracker” dress! The title drew me in, promising a ballerina-esque garment. The color I chose is sold out now, but it also comes in emerald green and hot pink! There is also a long-sleeved version of the dress.

I was very happy with the dress once I received it (Shabby Apple customer service was a little frustrating, but the dress was at my doorstep within three days after shipment). The color is closer to a royal blue than navy, but the shine prevents the dress from being too spring-like. The dress is super soft and stretchy, a rare find in semi-formal wear. I love the coverage of the cap sleeves, and the gored skirt is fun and flirty! I can wear this dress to summer weddings, nice dinners or end-of-year teacher banquets! With a nice structured blazer, thin belt and opaque tights the dress can also be worn around the holidays.

The length of the dress allows it to be worn with flats or heels. I chose to pair it with peach wedges from Payless. Already in my shoe closet, the wedges make the outfit more casual. The dress would also look nice with glittery or leopard-print heels. Crazy shoes are fun! :)
